Bethlehem - Ma'an/Agencies - A group of South American Christians has been given permission to build a $200-million replica of Solomon's Temple in Brazil's economic capital, São Paulo, The Guardian of Britain reported Wednesday.
The "mega church," initiated by the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, will hold up to 10,000 and house a replica of the Ark of the Covenant built to "biblical orientations," the daily reported.
According to the Estado de São Paulo newspaper, permission was granted this week and church officials say it should be completed in four years and stand taller than Rio de Janeiro's Christ the Redeemer statue.
