December 21, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Chilean President Sebastián Piñera has given a personal promise to the Chilean homosexual movement to pass a law for the “equality of all couples,” according to the Homosexual Integration and Liberation Movement (Movilh) in a press release posted on its website.

According to Movilh, President Piñera agreed to meet with Rolando Jiménez, President of Movilh, earlier this month, where he confirmed that “the government will move ahead with a norm for the purpose of ending the inequalities that are experienced by couples of the same and different sexes in Chile, specifying that the presentation of the proposal is foreseen for this coming January,” in the words of Movilh.

Although the exact content of the legislation is unclear, Piñera has already committed himself to support legislation creating “civil unions” for homosexual couples, while denying that such a measure would amount to a disguised homosexual “marriage.”

Piñera met with Movilh’s president during the presentation of the first annual report of the Chilean Institute for Human Rights, which endorses key demands of the homosexual agenda.

According to the report, the government should take “measures against discriminatory attitudes in society through public education initiatives,” including sex education programs that will teach adolescents about homosexuality in the context of “equality” with heterosexual behavior. In addition, the report gives equal status to transsexuals, who claim that their “real” gender is different from their physical one.

The report also advocates lowering the age of consent for adolescents to engage in homosexual activity. Currently, in Chilean law, the age of consent is 18, and the report seeks to lower it to 14, to establish “equality” with the age of heterosexual consent. Lowering the age of consent will give adult homosexuals access to teenagers without any legal consequences, a major goal of the homosexual movement.

The leadership of Movilh calls the document a “great work”, and one that they “enormously value.”
