Explicit sex education website and app aimed at 13 year olds

An explicit sex education website for children as young as 13, has been branded “grossly irresponsible.”

The website and smart phone app, gives tips on anal and oral sex, losing virginity and features graphic images of male and female pleasure-zones.

The aim of the NHS and EU funded service in Coventry and Warwickshire was to educate and inform young people about relationships and sex.
Condoning

But many have slammed the website, accusing the creators of “condoning” sexual experimentation.

The site says brazenly about the legal age of consent: “You are the only one who knows when you are ready.”

Norman Wells, director of the Family Education Trust, said the website is “grossly irresponsible” and that it “pretty much tells young people they can engage in sexual activity whenever they feel ready, regardless of what the law says”.
Appalled

He added: “Parents throughout the region will be appalled that health professionals have supported the development of a resource that condones sexual experimentation by young people and uses crude and sometimes even foul language.”

The website respectyourself.info has been rolled out across secondary schools in Coventry and Warwickshire.

MP Philip Davies said the website should be taken down by the Health Secretary immediately, deeming it “unacceptable and inappropriate.”
Young People

The site’s creators worked with young people from the region to develop the service.

The brief was to provide information that young people want.

Respect Yourself Campaign Manager, Amy Danahay, hopes the project will be used by other local authorities, and suggested it could be used by children younger than 13. She said, “some of the information may be useful for young people experiencing puberty.”
Curiosity

She added: “The website deals with this curiosity in a fun, yet carefully thought through and educational way.”

The project is based on sex education techniques used in the Netherlands.
