Holographic Imagery and the End Times

According to a recent article posted on The Christian Post, holographic technology is entering the church. Holography creates three dimensional video images where we are accustomed to two dimensional images through television and projectors. Many mega-churches with multiple seating arrangements that may be in separate locations or churches with multiple sites are considering using this technology.

One of the people interviewed in the article stated, "This just gives you a completely limitless palette for creating environments that don't look as if you're viewing them but look as if you're part of them because it's in three dimensions."

I urge you to read the article; it’s quite interesting and you can go to it by clicking here.

This phenomenon really came about as churches grew to become mega-churches and large and multiple screens were used to enhance viewing. Video gained acceptance as churches expanded to multiple rooms and sites. Remember when video first came in as a solution to large church communication? Now it’s accepted with church attendees not paying a second thought to this use of technology. The use of holographic technology, as Star Trek-like as it may be, is a step up from video.

Now, go crazy with me for a moment. Let’s take the largest church in America, Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, and let’s make it even larger by setting up “church sites” all over the nation, or even the world for that matter. Joel Osteen will be able to preach a message live in Houston that will be simulcast to all these sites everywhere, and Lakewood Church can expand from its limited thousands to potentially millions at one sitting. That’s what this technology can do. If technology can be expertly wielded to enhance propagation of the Gospel message of Jesus Christ, who will want to stand in the way? Well, the Antichrist, of course.

Take a look at Revelation 13:11-15:

11Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. 12 And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. 13 He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. 14 And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived. 15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

Can you, like me, sort of see the holographic technology possibly used here in the false prophet’s creation of an “image” of the Antichrist? John the Revelator was trying his best to describe this. If this is a hologram, it can certainly take care of the geographic concerns reducing geography to virtually a non-issue. He’ll be everywhere through his image.

OK, maybe you are not so impressed by this technology, and you are some sort of uber-geek-type person whose knowledge base is all maxed out on the latest technology. What you should be impressed with is this; the technology needed to make this image and the mark of the beast mentioned in the next verses following the ‘image’ discussion is here and ready. That means that the rapture and subsequent tribulation can happen anytime. There is nothing yet needed before any of this can take place.

The Antichrist will be one teched out dude and he’s going to use it thoroughly. Much of the technology created to protect us from terrorism is going to be used by his government to capture and annihilate Christians, but that is for another blog-moment.

Should we keep holograms out of the church then? Should we avoid the latest technology? If you found out that the Antichrist was going to drive around in a BMW, would you avoid cars? Look, the technology we mention here becomes useful tools to the Antichrist at the mid-tribulation point, 3 ½ years after the beginning of the tribulation. The church will be gone, and so will you if you know Jesus as your personal Savior. Use technology for all its worth. It’s not marking you for the Antichrist—we should be using it to the best advantage in getting people saved and discipled.
