Huge End-Time Sign: Israel turns its Heart to God
The biggest end time sign is the restoration of Israel in 1948 and the return of Jerusalem to Israel in 1967. The Bible also speaks prophetically that Israel will turn its heart back to God. This will be manifested by the building of the third Temple and reinstitution of the priestly role, sacrifices, and traditional religious practices.
The final Week of Daniel, the tribulation, is when God focuses His attention back on Israel. One of the purposes for the tribulation is to bring the hearts of Israel back to God, described in Daniel 9:27. But the events prophesied by Prophet Ezekiel leading up to the tribulation will profoundly move Israel to God:
“Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: ‘Now I will bring back the captives of Jacob, and have mercy on the whole house of Israel; and I will be jealous for My holy name— after they have borne their shame, and all their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, when they dwelt safely in their own land and no one made them afraid. When I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them out of their enemies’ lands, and I am hallowed in them in the sight of many nations, then they shall know that I am the LORD their God, who sent them into captivity among the nations, but also brought them back to their land, and left none of them captive any longer. And I will not hide My face from them anymore; for I shall have poured out My Spirit on the house of Israel,’ says the Lord GOD.” Ezekiel 39:25-29
Hosea 14 also prophesies of Israel turning back to God. When Israel turns back to God asking Him to take away their iniquity and receive them graciously, and then offer the sacrifice of their lips, then Israel will be restored and this will be the end of the tribulation.
There are already signs that are setting up for this to take place. One of those signs is an elevation in the importance of the Bible. Israel holds a state-sponsored national Bible quiz for children. Look at some of the comments Israeli leaders have made about the Bible and the quiz:
Israeli Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi said, “Not by accident does the (Israeli Defense Force) IDF induct its soldiers with a weapon in one hand and Bible in the other, which reflects the uniqueness of the IDF" (Arutz Sheva). “The IDF sees the Bible as a guide in the deep and practical sense of the word,” added Ashkenazi. The article goes on to state, “The contestants – all of whom won the Bible Quizzes in their respective countries – have been taking part in an 18-day preparatory camp which includes volunteer activity, hikes through Biblical sites, a visit to Yad VaShem and gun training in the Gadna Youth Corps base. Four of the 46 participants are the Israeli quiz's finalists, one of whom is the Prime Minister's son, Avner Netanyahu.” The Prime Minister’s son actually won this year’s quiz. No pressure there, right?
Bible Quiz for adults is coming back after a 30-year absence, according to Arutz Sheva.
Netanyahu told the participants that, with the help of his son, he is learning more Bible. "We're in the process of strengthening Bible studies throughout the country," he added (Arutz Sheva).
Before Christians get all excited, keep in mind that the Bible for Jews is only what Christians call the Old Testament. But, the importance of the Bible and the reintroduction of Bible Quiz for adults shows preparation that will eventually be part of what leads the Jewish heart back to God in profound ways. When God reveals himself during the Ezekiel incident, they will know to turn to Him not just because of the trouble they are facing and seeing the resulting hand of God bring them deliverance, but they will have God’s Word hidden in their hearts. All of this will come together to fulfill Bible prophecy.
