Massive sinkhole opens in Hotan, swallows car

A driver in Hotan, Xinjiang, got a nasty surprise when a three metre sinkhole opened up under his vehicle on Monday, almost swallowing it whole. Luckily the driver was left with only minor injuries, as was his wife and child who were in the car with him. The sinkhole was caused by heavy rainfall in the last few days, according to Xinhua.
