Percent of Israeli Religious Officers Increases Over 1000%

In recent decades there has been an enormous increase in the amount of religious officers. According to a study based on IDF figures, the percentage of religious officers jumped from 2.5% in 1990 to 31.4% in 2007.
Until 1992, the amount of religious officers remained low, almost negligible. Between 1993 and 2000, it increased significantly (up to 15.5%, six times the previous amount) and almost doubled again in 2001 until today. The number of officers did not decline and even increased in the years after the disengagement in 2005.
