From Israel National News:

General David Petraeus, the top United States commander in Afghanistan, says the planned burning of Qurans on September 11th by a 50-member Florida church could put the lives of American troops in danger and damage the war effort there. In an interview published by the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday, General Petraeus said Taliban terrorists would exploit the demonstration for propaganda purposes, drumming up anger toward the U.S. and making it harder for allied troops to carry out their mission of protecting Afghan civilians. He added, "Not just here, but everywhere in the world we are engaged with the Islamic community."

A statement from Pastor Terry Jones of Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville acknowleged Petraeus's concerns, but added, "We must send a clear message to the radical element of Islam. We will no longer be controlled and dominated by their fears and threats." Jones has said the protest will take place despite the church being denied a permit. A spokeswoman for the church said no one from the Pentagon had been in direct contact.

Prophecy Dude has said this before, this stunt for the purpose of gaining notoriety and attention not only brings shame to Christianity, but it could potentially put soldiers, families, and many others at risk. Pastor Jones, you got the world’s attention, not stop before it’s too late. If Pastor Jones really understood Islam and Christianity as he purports, then this stunt would never have even been mentioned.
