Presbyterian church in Philadelphia to welcome openly gay pastor

PHILADELPHIA — A Presbyterian church in Philadelphia says it’s welcoming an openly gay pastor.The Rev. Bill Golderer says in a statement that the Broad Street Ministry is proud to be ordaining David Norse, a graduate of the Princeton Theological Seminary.

The ceremony is scheduled for 4 p.m. Sunday, and the church is located at 315 South Broad Street.

Norse says he’s excited and humbled by the prospect of being ordained, and that inclusion is central to what Christianity is about.

Golderer says that while Norse’s sexual orientation is an important part of his identity, he sees himself first and foremost as someone called to pastor.  LGBTQNation
