Revelation’s Bowl Judgments

10/19/2013 18:54

Revelation 15, although short in length, sets the stage for the final judgments of the tribulation period.  These final seven judgments complete the wrath of God and terminate the tribulation period (Revelation 15:1). These last seven bowl judgments are characterized as the pouring out of God’s final wrath upon the earth. These last seven judgments are so powerful, no one is permitted to enter into the heavenly tabernacle as these judgments are meted (Revelation 15:8).

The bowl judgments begin in chapter 16:

First Bowl- Malignant sores will appear on those who take the mark of the beast and worship his image. Of course, without the mark no one can make financial transactions.

Second Bowl- All the seas and oceans become blood and every living creature contained dies.

Third Bowl- Fresh drinking water is contaminated with blood

Fourth Bowl- In previous judgments, the sun was darkened or reduced by a third of its power, but here it is dramatically increased to the extent that it scorches men with fire. There will not be a sun block powerful enough to avoid this, and even with all of this, people will still resist and curse God.

Fifth Bowl- The antichrist’s kingdom becomes dark. Apparently only that which is designated or recognized as his kingdom becomes darkened. Along with that, people will be in excruciating pain. Even with this, they still do not repent, but curse God again.

Sixth Bowl- The great Euphrates River dries as a result of this judgment; the purpose being to permit the kings and their armies from the east to enter the Valley of Jehoshaphat for the final battle of Armageddon.

Seventh Bowl- We are accustomed to the seventh of each series of judgments to expand into another, but this time, the Lord declares, “It is done!” (Revelation 16:17). Out of this bowl judgment come great noises, thunderings, and lightnings, and the greatest earthquake ever, powerful enough to split Babylon into three parts. The earthquakes levels all mountains and sinks all islands, and hail weighing 125 pounds falls, yet people continue to blaspheme God.

Job 38:22, 23 “Have you entered the treasury of snow, or have you seen the treasury of hail, which I reserved for the time of trouble.”

These judgments on the earth are the greatest, most powerful ever. Followers of the Antichrist have no place to hide. There is no FEMA shelter impenetrable enough to withstand God’s bunker-busting hail stones.
