Revelation’s Seven New Wonders
Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
Following the tribulation, Armageddon, the final treatment of Satan, Antichrist, and False prophet, comes a time of renewal—a radical makeover where God in glorious fashion shows His love to His children with seven new wonders.
The first two new wonders are a new heaven and a new earth
“And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.” Revelation 21:1
The Bible records an earlier earth makeover with the flood of Noah’s day with a promise to never judge the earth in that manner again. This time it’s with fire as described by Peter:
But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 2 Peter 3:7-11
But instead of a makeover, the Bible is speaking of a new heaven and a new earth with the old of both passing away. Peter takes it further and says they will all be dissolved. There’s a message here for us.
Among the various themes in Revelation, the message of redemption rings the loudest. Revelation is a revelation of Jesus, but also revelation is another display of redemption. Revelation is not only a picture into the unfolding of the finality of the ages, but it is also a message, a symbol, a secret revealed to those who seek out redemption.
For those who accept Jesus as Lord and Savior and turn from their old life they find redemption—complete redemption as is typified by the renewal of the earth into something new—something that has not existed before. When we accept Christ we pass from something old to something that has never existed before. We become a new creation—as the earth is destined to become.
and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:15-19

The New Jerusalem is a new wonder
Throughout history, Jerusalem, in one form or another, has been present. It’s a key, the touchstone, it holds the foundation of the earth. Read more about that here.
Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:2-4
As the earth is new, so is this New Jerusalem. It doesn’t come from earth or man’s hands, but from the hands of God prepared by Him for His people. The intimacy for which God has longed will be fulfilled as He dwells with His people in this New Jerusalem. The former things are passed away even as Paul said of followers of Christ—old things are passed away.
The wonder of new nations
Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5
And they do inherit the earth. Those from the beginning to the very end of the ages who call on God and serve Him join with other nations to worship Him as one. It’s significant that here the Book of Revelation specifically mentions nations and the wonder of it is their unity in turning to and serving Him.
The glory and honor originally intended for the nations and robbed by the enemy are restored as nations fulfill their destiny to serve God and His people. Will there be government in heaven? Yes, but it will fulfill its duty to serve the people.
And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. Revelation 21:24-26
The wonder of the New River
And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. Revelation 22:1
This river flows continually carrying life—the life of God, because God is absolute life. This is a river that has beauty that natural description fails. It’s not only seen but heard.
The New Throne

The throne symbolizes the presence of God, but here it’s reality. From the presence of God flows pure life, and this life sustains all creation. We taste it now in worship.
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth. John 4:23-24
But You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel. Psalm 22:3
Our worship creates a throne for His presence.
The New Tree of Life
The Tree of Life is first revealed in the beginning where fallen humanity is forbidden access to the fruit, “lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever,” Genesis 3:22-23
But now fully redeemed the wonder of the Tree of Life provides healing.
In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. Revelation 22:2-3
Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food; their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. They will bear fruit every month, because their water flows from the sanctuary. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for medicine. Ezekiel 47:12
The Tree of Life and its monthly healing leaves seems to imply immortality.
These seven new wonders invite us to pursue through this life, discover our purpose here and fulfill the destiny God has for us. The seven wonders both encourage us with what awaits us, and they challenge us to share this good news with as many as we can.
