Texas school district selects Radiant RFID for student accountability solution

The Keller Independent School District based in Keller, Texas has selected Radiant RFID to manage a new pay-for-ride bus transportation system. Using RFID tags and readers, the Radiant RFID solution will operate in much the same way as a city bus pass. Combined with Motorola’s FX 7400 readers, the Radiant RFID platform detects directionality of student on or off the bus.

The bus tracking/manifesting module makes certain that students are on the correct bus while providing school personnel with an instant manifest of bus riders if needed. There is also support for sending text and email notifications. It also monitors students near or in the vicinity of a bus, ensuring no students are left behind on a bus.

Together with KISD’s transportation partner, Durham School Services, Radiant RFID has developed an online registration and payment portal for parents to pay using a credit or debit card prior to the start of school. Families can pay either monthly or by the semester.

The Radiant RFID solution can also be expanded to support applications including a classroom attendance, access control, asset tracking, cafeteria sales and emergency management.
