Two Mississippi Presbyterian Churches Vote to Split from PCUSA Denomination

UCN:  The congregations of two Presbyterian churches on the Gulf Coast have voted to split from the Presbyterian Church USA to affiliate with the more conservative Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/IPeWYF) that the votes came Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Ocean Springs and First Presbyterian Church of Pascagoula.

The leadership at both churches recommended in February that their respective congregations change denominations.

Both pastors say their congregations have been concerned for years about the direction the PCUSA denomination was heading and wanted to belong to a denomination centered more around the direct teachings of the Bible.

The churches' larger governing body, the Presbytery of Mississippi, will decide on May 17 whether to approve each church's request to leave the PCUSA.
