A man in Tampa, Fla. is facing animal cruelty charges after a group of his understandably troubled neighbors flagged down a police car and duly reported that they had just witnessed the man having sex with a pit bull in his own yard.

The alleged bestiality enthusiast is Bernard Marsonek, reports South Florida NBC affiliate WPTV.

The incident occurred on Monday. The small gathering of neighbors told the cops that they vainly yelled to Marsonek to stop what he was doing. However, Marsonek, 57, ignored their pleas.

Marsonek, a convicted felon, was uncooperative when police tried to speak with him in his home. Police then obtained a search warrant and conducted a search where they found a gun and some ammunition.

Hillsborough County Animal Services also showed up and hauled away the eight large pit bulls on Marsonek’s property, notes Tampa CBS affiliate WTSP.

The charges against Marsonek are animal cruelty and taking part in sexual activity involving animals. There are two weapons charges as well (because of the man’s prior felony convictions).

Marsonek is currently in jail. His bond has been set at $17,500.

This winter has seen a couple of man-animal sex stories.

Last month in rural Herkimer County, N.Y., for example, Michael Jones, 35, and Reid Fontaine, 31, were merely ticketed for a single misdemeanor charge each of sexual misconduct for trying to make video of Fontaine having sex with a farmer’s cows. DailyCaller
